The examination begins by listening to your symptoms and history. Visual acuity, intraocular pressure and, when needed, the back of the eye are assessed.

It does not hurt — some tests may involve a brief puff of air or a bright light.

If you wear contact lenses, please bring your glasses too.

If the back of the eye needs to be examined, dilating drops are used; your near vision may stay blurred for a few hours — please don't plan to drive.
